Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Hike With Me, operated by Lukas Lindqvist, an individual — not a company. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Hike With Me. You must provide accurate information about yourself and use your own real identity — impersonating someone else or creating a fake profile is not allowed. One account per person.

2. What the service is

Hike With Me lets you post information about a hike you're planning, browse other pilgrims doing the same trail around the same time, and message people you'd like to meet or walk with. It is not a dating service, a booking service, or a safety-verification service.

3. Your responsibilities

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, on or off the platform.
• Post false, misleading, or impersonated information about yourself.
• Use the app to solicit money, sell products or services, or run scams.
• Upload content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or that violates someone else's rights.
• Attempt to access another user's account, or use the app to collect other users' data beyond normal use.
• Interfere with the app's operation (e.g. scraping, spamming, attempting to bypass safety features).

4. Safety — please read this carefully

Hike With Me helps you find people who say they're on the same trail. We do not conduct identity verification, background checks, or criminal record checks on any user. Meeting anyone you connect with through this app — in person, on a trail, or anywhere else — is entirely at your own risk and discretion. Use the same judgment you would meeting any stranger from the internet: meet in public places first, tell someone your plans, and trust your instincts.

We provide gender/age visibility controls, blocking, and reporting as tools to help you control who can contact you and to flag bad behavior — not as a guarantee of anyone's safety or identity.

5. Reporting and account suspension

If you violate these Terms, harass another user, or are reported and we determine action is warranted, we may suspend or permanently ban your account at our discretion, without advance notice. You can report another user directly from their profile; we review reports and take action we consider appropriate, which may include no action, a warning, or a ban.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the photos, bio, and messages you post. By posting them, you grant us a limited license to store and display that content within the app as necessary to provide the service (e.g. showing your profile photo to other users, delivering your messages to their recipient). We don't sell your content or use it for advertising.

7. Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and data at any time from your profile page. We may also suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee you'll find a companion, that other users' information is accurate, or that the service will be available without interruption. We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, on or off the platform, or for anything that happens as a result of a meeting arranged through the app.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to interactions with other users.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you're an EU consumer, this doesn't take away any mandatory consumer protections you're entitled to under the law of your own country of residence.
